EP Review: Good Morning, Dionysus

'Dionysus' in Greek Mythology is the god of wine and grape harvesting. I'm not entirely sure of the title's significance within the songs, but that doesn't stop me from adoring Mister Twisted's EP.

There's a lot of Tame Impala and Bob Marley credentials within this body of work. 'Reggular' and 'Ritual Madness' both begin with ambient-electronics before dropping into their cool reggae grooves. The accordion at the end of 'Reggular' gives a very Jewish/Eastern European vibe, which does run in the background harmonically within the other tracks.

There's a nice break in 'You Are the One' where it drops into only vocals singing the repeated hook 'you are the one, of my fears, in my sleep, yeah you, turn me on, like a spread-ing disease'. I love the psychedelic effect the guitar reverb creates. 'Ritual Madness' also works well with reverb on the vocals emphasizing the Caribbean accent. The rap section by Adam C comes in perfectly, complementing the track.

Revelation is the slowest song playing at a 6/8 time signature, but speeds up towards the last section with an exciting coda on the guitar. Overall these are four catchy and awesome songs that sound great together on this metaphorically-named EP.
